  5. I have downloaded and extracted the .mp3 files, however, when I create my CD or playback the tracks in iTunes, there is an annoying gap between the tracks. How do I configure iTunes to smoothly fade songs in and out?
  6. What program can I use to create CDs with files I downloaded?

  1. What type of files will be downloaded?
These mixes are .mp3 downloads, enclosed in a .zip file. If your computer does not already have a .zip un-packing program installed, we recommend you download WinZip or WinRAR, which is free software that can be used to unzip this mix file for you.

  2. How will I receive my purchased downloads?
Once you have successfully completed your secure purchase, either through PayPal or our site's billing pages, links to your downloads will appear on the right hand column. If you purchased the downloads without using an account, your download links will only be available as long as you stay on the Hotmixx.com website. If you leave the site or close your browser, you will likely lose the links. We highly recommend all download purchases be done through an account. This insures that your downloads will always be available. If you do have problems, don't hesitate to contact us at sales@hotmixx.com.

  3. How should I extract my mp3 files from the zip file I downloaded?
    Using Winzip of Winrar:
    1. Locate and double-click the mix file still in .zip format
    2. Winzip (or Winrar) Opens
    3. Click 'Extract', then choose a destination (desktop would be a good destination choice)
    4. The program un-packs the .zip file, and leaves a folder in the destination you chose.

  4. I'm using an Ipod with iTunes, what do I need to do to get the files loaded into my Ipod?
Within the mix file is a folder containing all of the mp3's. What we suggest, is:
    1. Open itunes (or any media player)
    2. Create a new itunes playlist (name it the same as this mix)
    3. Drag and drop the folder containing the mp3's into the new playlist.
    4. Now, you can listen to the mix in that playlist (make sure the itunes crossfade setting is off), burn the mix onto a cd (make sure the burner is set to insert 0 seconds between tracks), or sync the mix up with your ipod.

  5. I have downloaded and extracted the .mp3 files, however, when I create my CD or playback the tracks in iTunes, there is an annoying gap between the tracks. How do I configure iTunes to smoothly fade songs in and out?
On the iTunes main screen, click the Edit menu tab and choose Preferences. Click on the Playback tab to see the option for crossfading. Now, put a check in the box next to the Crossfade Songs option. You can use the sliderbar to adjust the number of seconds that crossfading should occur between songs; the default is 6 seconds. When done, click the OK button to exit the preferences menu.

  6. What program can I use to create CDs with files I downloaded?
We recommend Nero, but there are others that work just fine. With Nero, just create an Audio CD. Add the files you need to create the CD. Select all of the files by selecting the first file then while holding the ALT key select the last file. At this point, all of the files should become highlighted. Right-click any track in the list and select properties. Check the box next to Cross Fade with previous track. We recommend you change to the frames units and type in 5. This will give you 5 frames of cross fade and this will more than likely remove the annoying gap in your mix. You can experiment with 5 frames, but this works for us. Again, other programs have a similar function called 'Cross fade'. You'll probably have to use the help functions of the programs to help point you in the right direction.
